Grey and out of Focus / Unscharfes Grau

Should we be dressing to enhance good and counteract bad moods? Yes! Unfortunately on day 13 of self-stitched September I certainly did not follow my own good advice. Even my self stitched knickers were grey, albeit made from a luxury grey Pucci rayon knit.

Sollte man sich so anziehen, dass gute Laune verstärkt und schlechte bekämpft wird? Ja! Dumm nur, dass ich am 13. Tag des self-stitched-September meinen eigenen Rat nicht befolgt habe. Sogar die selbstgemachte Unterhose war grau - da hilft es nichts, dass es ein edler Viscosejersey mit Puccidesign ist.

Day 9 / 9. Tag

I finally managed to finish my first attempt of a drapedrape piece. I'm not very happy with it. My fabric choice was bad - a bulky mesh that makes the top look even more shapeless than it is anyway.

Endlich habe ich meinen ersten drapedrape-Versuch fertiggestellt. Richtig glücklich bin ich damit nicht. Der Stoff hat zuviel Volumen, so dass das Top sehr viel unförmiger aussieht, als gut für mich ist.



The top is supposed to look like this and I must admit that I feel a little discouraged from trying any of the other design in the drapedrape books.

So hätte das Top aussehen sollen. Das Resultat motiviert mich nicht unbedingt, die anderen Schnitte in den drapedrape Büchern auszuprobieren.
Edit: Then again, looking at ancien-nouveau's take on this shirt, I feel there is hope yet, provided I use a really thin and drapey fabric.
Nachtrag: Wenn ich mir aber ansehe, was ancien-nouveau aus diesem Schnitt gemacht hat, schöpfe ich wieder Hoffnung, dass es nur am Stoff liegt.

Then again, I'm still very happy with the skirt. It is Burda 09/2003, no. 116. While the yoke is cut on the grainline, the body of the skirt is on the bias. This gives more freedom of movement which I need for cycling.

Der Rockschnitt bleibt dagegen ein Lieblingsschnitt. Der Sattel ist zwar im Fadenlauf, aber der Rest des Rocks wird in der Schräge zugeschnitten. Das gibt mir die Beinfreiheit, die ich auf dem Fahrrad brauche.

S-S-S 6, 7, 8

DAY 6 / 6. TAG
A surprisingly blue-skyed and warm day, so I thought: last chance for my lavender linen wrap skirt this year. The Pattern is Butterick 3457 from 1994. This is one of my TNT patterns. Over the years I think I had at least 10 skirts derived from this pattern. My second self-stitched item for this day is one of the invisibles, for the t-shirt and cardigan are RTW.

Ein überraschend blauhimmelliger, warmer Tag und ich dachte: letzte Chance für meinen lavendelfarbenen Wickelrock. Das Schnittmuster ist Butterick 3457 von 1994. Das ist einer meiner Standardschnitte. Im Lauf der Jahre habe ich sicher mindestens 10 Röcke davon gemacht. Für diesen Tag ist das zweite selbstgenähte Teil eine meiner Unsichtbaren Hosen, kurz U-Hose, denn T-Shirt und Strickjacke sind gekauft.

DAY 7 / 7. TAG
The penny dropped and I had to realize that a wobbly yoga block is no substitute for a tripod. The resulting photos are so hazily out of focus. Anyway the top is another Vogue 8509 (seen on day 5 in red). The skirt is Patrones 268, 22 with a most photogenic peacock design. I'm not sure I like the quality of this cotton stretch twill, but the colour scheme is so versatile.

Der Groschen ist gefallen und mir musste klar werden, das ein wackeliger Yogablock kein Ersatz für ein Stativ ist. Kein Wunder, dass die Photos so nebelig unscharf geworden sind. Das Top ist Vogue 8509 (am 5. Tag in rot gesichtet). Der Rock ist Patrones 268, 22 mit einem recht photogenen Pfauenmuster. Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob mir die Qualität dieses Baumwollstretchtwills gefällt, aber die Farbkombination ist so schön vielseitig.

DAY 8 / 8. TAG
Oh, the light was so bad this morning. The fabric of this dress is great, supple with great stretch (again, no zip) a pity about the colour - a frightful maroon that clashes both with dark brown and my favorite eggplant. It is Vogue 8509 from 2008. Seen here with one of my standard t-shirts, a hand-rolled crepe chiffon scarf, refashioned knee length men's socks.

Ach, das Licht war heute Morgen so mies. Der Kleiderstoff ist großartig, fällt weich und schwer (kein Reißverschluss), wenn bloß die Farbe nicht wäre, ein fürchterliches tiefdunkles rotbraun, das sich sowohl mit dunkelbraun als auch mit meiner Lieblingsfarbe aubergine beißt. Dazu eines meiner Standard-T-Shirts, ein Seidencrepe Schal mit handgerolltem Saum und entfußte Herrenkniestrümpfe.

Days 4&5/ Tag 4+5

About two weeks ago I read about proper posture in the 60s in Couture Allure's Charm School. It was so quaint. When it came to taking photographs for self-stitched-September was glad I remembered it. I'm still practising. 10 seconds for finding my feet on the tiny display of my camera and getting into the pose is not that long.
Vor etwa zwei Wochen habe ich in  Couture Allure's Charme Schule etwas über die korrekte Haltung in den 60er Jahren gelesen. Es war so wunderbar altmodisch. Als ich dann anfing Photos zu machen, war ich froh, mich daran zu erinnern. Ich übe noch. 10 Sekunden um meine Füße auf dem winzigen Display meiner Kamera zu finden und die Haltung einzunehmen ist nich gerade lang.

S-S-S day 2 & 3 / Self-Stitched-September Tag 2+3

This is my outfit of day 2 of self-stitched-September. Somewhere there is a t-shirt which is my one and only t-shirt-pattern that keeps mutating. So whenever I say t-shirt in the next 27 days, it is one of those, unless specified as RTW.
Hier ist mein Outfit vom 2. Tag. Ganz unten ist ein T-Shirt, mein einziges T-Shirt-Schnittmuster. Es mutiert kontinuierlich. Wann immer ich während der nächsten 27 Tage von T-Shirts spreche, ist es eines von diesden, es sei denn ich bezeichne es als RTW.



The most recent variation is the nightie. I started making these last year when I finally rejected old and tattered XL t-shirts as my nighttime attire. They were good projects to practice using my newish serger. The leggings are also self-stitched.

Die jüngste Variation ist das Nachthemd. Nachdem ich letztes Jahr ältlichen Schlabbershirts endgültig abgeschworen hatte, habe ich ein Stäpelchen davon genäht, auch um mich mit meiner Overlock vertrauter zu machen. Die Leggings sind auch selbstgemacht.



And here is day 3. I shall have to edit this post to tell you which pattern I used for this dress. Because the sun was smothered by clouds immediately after I took this photograph I needed to add lots of woolly things. The legwarmers from day 2. Inauspicous start / Lahmer Beginn

Yes, this is the first of September and I need to put something up today or I may wear my self-stitched items to the end of the month and noone will know it. So here goes:

Ja, dies ist der 1. September und wenn ich heute nicht anfange, zu bloggen, wann denn dann. Also los:

You see McCall's 5656, and a pair of wristwarmers. You can guess at a t-shirt. You will have to believe one of my standard knickers (I shall attempt to give them some more digital reality during the month).
Plus a bought cashmere t-shirt and tights.

Man sieht McCalls 5656 und ein paar Pulswärmer. Erraten kann man ein t-shirt und meine Standard-U-Hose muss man mir einfach glauben (die bekommen einen gesonderten Eintrag). Gekauft: Ein Cashmere T-Shirt und Strumpfhosen.

The dress is for covering my nighties (all self-stitched simple t-shirt like things) when receiving parcels or going on quick shopping expeditions on my off days. It is a somewhat sheer linen, underlined with a lovely dark brown lawn, but I don't like myself in it, makes me unneccessarily big, I think. It can only get better?

Das Kleid dient zum Verdecken meiner Nachthemden (alles simple t-shirt-artige Angelegenheiten), wenn ich Pakete bekomme oder für Mini Einkaufsexpeditionen an freien Tagen. Ein etwas durchsichtes Leinen mit einem wundervollen dunkelbraunen Batist unterfütter, aber ich gefalle mir darin nicht wirklich, es macht mich unnötig breit, finde ich. Kann nicht schlimmer werden?
